STEAP1B Belongs to the STEAP family. STEAP1 is predominantly expressed in prostate tissue, and is found to be upregulated in multiple cancer cell lines. The gene product is predicted to be a six-transmembrane protein, and was shown to be a cell surface antigen significantly expressed at cell-cell junctions.One novel gene that was highly expressed in advanced prostate cancer encoded a 339-amino acid protein with 6 potential membrane-spanning regions flanked by hydrophilic N- and C-terminal domains. This structure suggested a potential function as a channel or transporter protein.
